Time to start raising money for this year's Buddy Walk. Over the last thirteen years, the Buddy Walk has become the premier advocacy event for Down Syndrome and has become a major platform for inclusion in communities across the country. There are Buddy Walks in hundreds of locations every year - and we're so glad our local DS group participates. Last year's BW was held at the University of Richmond and a good time was had by all. This year's event is being held at the Richmond International Raceway which is super exciting!
If you decide to make a donation to Lois's Buddy Walk campaign, your hard earned money will stay right here in Richmond to benefit Lois and her many new friends who also have DS. Lois recently attended a Daddy n' Me Swim Class (now there's a blog post waiting to happen) and the cost of the class was covered by the DSAGR. We attend monthly informational meetings with speakers who address issues common to children with DS. Those speakers are paid for with money raised by the Buddy Walk. The DSAGR hosts cookouts, ice cream socials, pizza parties, and an annual Christmas party all with funds raised through the Buddy Walk. I think I've expressed on numerous occasions how very grateful we are to be part of this organization and what a blessing it is in our lives. We appreciate any support you can offer - no matter how small. If everyone who read this blog post contributed only $5.00, we would have no trouble of meeting our goal of $1,000.
Making a donation is simple! Just click here and follow the directions to make an online donation. If you are more comfortable making your donation in the form of cash or check, just send an email and let us know. One of Jay's facebook friends indicated he tried to make a donation on Lois's page and ran into trouble. If that happens to any of you, would you please let us know?
If you'd like to join our team and walk with Lois on October 10, then go to Lois's page and click on the link that says "Join This Team". Lois's team name is "Butter Bean's Buddies" and we'd love to have you join us. Registration is free - and there is a free T-shirt involved! You don't have to part of Lois's team in order to make a donation.
One more thing. I am a terribly competitive person. (Never invite me to a baby shower. I take those silly shower games WAY too seriously.) On the DSAGR's firstgiving page, they have a list of the top 5 fundraising pages to date. (It's on the right hand side.) At last check, our good friends Maddy, Elizabeth, Jackson, Rachel, and Taylor are ALL in the top five. Lois? So far we've raised $10.00 which doesn't quite make the cut for the top five. I NEED to be on that list, people. Help a girl out, won't you? I'm not too proud to beg. Give till it hurts!!
In all seriousness, we appreciate your support, no matter how big or small. (But I'll keep you updated on when my baby girl cracks into the top 5!!!)

This has nothing to do with your post but the new header. Bozo... he was a good friend. Cracks me up.. But people really, give till it hurts, it is a great organization. I attended last year and was amazed. I am all signed up for this year and can't wait.
Hey, quick, look at the front page. You made the top five!
