In response to all of you who asked.....


There is a simple explanation. The Ya-Ya was here that day and gave Lois a bath. She's not as experienced in taming the landing strip on Lois's head, so she accidentally combed it the wrong way - to the right. It dried. The part in front decided to stage a revolt and go to the left. The end result is what you see in this picture.
